The Inflammation Oxidation Connection

When to Worry About Inflammation

Inflammation is the body's normal self-protective response to injury or infection that is driven by the immune system. It occurs when your body attempts to remove harmful stimuli and initiate the healing process. This makes inflammation a necessary process for your continued health. The problem is that while it is needed, it isn't always a good thing.

One important factor influencing whether or not inflammation will exert a positive or negative influence on your health is its duration. When an inflammatory response is acute, it turns on and off quickly. However, when it is chronic and sustained, it not only rapidly ages your cells, but can lead to many different diseases that affect everything from the health of your heart and brain, to the condition of your skin.

There are many different cells, proteins, molecules, and nutrients involved in the inflammatory process, including Omega-3s. The Omega-3 EPA & DHA in AstaMatrix®  work by helping to turn off inflammatory responses when they are no longer needed, which enables you to avoid chronic inflammation from ever becoming an issue!

What is Oxidative Stress?

Oxidative stress refers to the imbalance between free radicals, which are unstable molecules in your body, and your body’s ability to neutralize their damaging effects with its antioxidant defenses. Like chronic levels of inflammation, damage caused by free radicals is also connected to accelerated cellular aging and increased risk for the development of diseases that impact many aspects of your health.

States of oxidative stress happen more often than you’d think, for two reasons. The first is that substances that trigger free radicals are everywhere. They can be found in the foods we eat, the air we breathe, and the water we drink, not to mention following sun exposure. Secondly, our antioxidant defenses are somewhat limited and need to be both replenished and enhanced through an antioxidant-rich diet, which many of us don't consume.

Well, now you don’t have to worry about the burdens of oxidative stress ever again, because of the antioxidants like the astaxanthin and delta-tocotrienol found in AstaMatrix®  step in and lend a hand to your antioxidant defenses, in order to help squash the free radicals that your body can’t handle on its own! Astaxanthin and delta-tocotrienol work by counteracting the damaging effects of free radicals and in order to restore a healthy oxidative balance to your body.

How to Short-Circuit Cellular Damage

While chronic inflammation and oxidative stress each cause damage in their own right, they don’t just work alone, but with each other as part of a larger cycle of damage. Even low levels of chronic inflammation can cause enough of an increase in free radical production to lead to a state of oxidative stress. Then, when your cells are stressed, a response from your immune system triggers the release of pro-inflammatory molecules, which causes the cycle of cellular damage to continue. This is how inflammation and oxidative stress can cause the type of cumulative damage to your cells that leads to diseases!

For this cycle to come to an end, it needs to be short-circuited. Luckily, with the right nutrients in your arsenal, like the Omega-3 EPA & DHA, astaxanthin and delta-tocotrienol found in AstaMatrix® it can be.

First, Omega-3 EPA & DHA help regulate inflammatory signaling and along with phospholipids help to strengthen your cell membranes. Then astaxanthin and delta-tocotrienol work synergistically together to neutralize free radicals. Because Omega-3s also have antioxidant properties, and astaxanthin and delta-tocotrienol have anti-inflammatory properties they also all compliment the health benefits of one another. This means you can curb both chronic inflammation and oxidative damage, with AstaMatrix® and break the cycle of damage for good!
